Galalith’s medals

The medal of the minaudière Temyris “Eclat Noir” is shaped in galalith (milk stone from Ancient Greek: γάλα/gala, “milk” and λῐ́θος/lithos, “stone”). Galalith is a noble material. It has become the 20th century’s substitute for ivory. The use of galalith in the Temyris minaudiere reflects our respect for our legacy and convictions: made in France, galalith is sustainable, biodegradable, anti-allergic and antistatic.

The Art of Stone Carving
The art of carving stone is still one of the most difficult. Working hard stone is now practised in very rare, highly specialised workshops. This is how Temyris stone marquetry is made. In a secretive Parisian workshop, our lapidaries cut and adjust the most beautiful stones to make ornaments for our minaudières.
